BSEIDC – Quality Control Cell | Frequency of Testing (CPWD Specification Vol-1, 2019)

Frequency of Testing (CPWD Specification Vol-1, 2019)

All tests as per relevant IS codes & CPWD specifications.

1	Cement	Physical	IS 4031	Every 50 tonnes or part thereof. Each brand of cement brought to site shall be tested at this frequency.	Minimum: 1 bag per sample / per brand.
2	Sand	Physical	IS 2386	Every 40 cum or part thereof.	Approx. 35 kg per sample.
3	Coarse Aggregate	Physical	IS 2386	Every 45 cum or part thereof (for RCC work only).	Approx. 40 kg per sample.
4	Concrete – Slump Test	Slump	IS 10262	Every 10 cum or part thereof of concrete produced.	As required for one standard slump test.
5	RCC (Nominal Mix) – Cube Test	Physical	IS 516	Every 5 cum in case of columns. Every 20 cum for slabs, beams and connected columns.	Set of 3 cubes for 7-day test and 3 cubes for 28-day test (minimum 70% at 7 days and 100% at 28 days – as per grade requirement).
6	RCC (Design Mix) – Cube Test	Physical	IS 516	Every 10 cum of RCC done in a day if quantity is less than 50 cum.	Set of 3 cubes for 7-day test and 3 cubes for 28-day test (minimum 70% at 7 days and full strength at 28 days as per grade).
7	Steel for RCC	Physical	IS 1786	(i) Under 10 mm dia: 1 sample per 25 tonnes. (ii) 10–16 mm dia: 1 sample per 35 tonnes. (iii) Over 16 mm dia: 1 sample per 45 tonnes.	3 pieces x 1 m length for each diameter tested.
8	Bricks (Fly Ash / Burnt Clay / Lime)	Physical	IS 12894, IS 1077 / CPWD	One sample for every 10,000 bricks or part thereof.	20 bricks per sample.
9	Stone	Physical	IS 1124 / IS 1130 / CPWD	One sample for 50 sqm of stone slabs and every 10 cum of stone masonry.	1 sq.ft × 5 pieces per sample.
10	Marble	Physical	IS 1124 / IS 1130 / CPWD	One sample for 50 sqm of marble slabs and every 10 cum of marble masonry.	1 sq.ft × 5 pieces per sample.
11	Granite	Physical	IS 1124 / IS 1130 / CPWD	One sample for 50 sqm of granite slabs and every 10 cum of granite masonry.	1 sq.ft × 5 pieces per sample.
12	Concrete Mix Design	Physical	IS 10262, IS 456	As required for establishing design mix proportions before commencement of concreting work.	As per IS code requirements for trial mixes.

Note: All testing shall be conducted as per relevant IS codes and CPWD specifications. The frequency mentioned is the minimum requirement and may be increased based on site conditions and project requirements.

Important Guidelines

●All materials shall be tested before use in construction work.
●Testing frequency may be increased if quality issues are observed.
●Samples shall be collected in the presence of authorized personnel.
●Test reports shall be submitted within the specified timeframe.
